Cookie Policy
Effective date: 12 June 2026
Version: v1.0
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Fertile Acre (Pty) Ltd t/a BioAktiva uses cookies and similar technologies on www.bioaktiva.co.za (the "Site"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. Where a conflict arises between this Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy prevails.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — such as your language preference, the contents of your shopping basket, and whether you are logged in — so that you do not have to provide that information again on each page or visit.
Cookies are categorised in several ways:
- First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting (us).
- Third-party cookies are set by other domains (such as Google Analytics or payment processors) called by the website.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain for a fixed period or until you delete them.
We also use similar technologies, including pixel tags, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs) embedded in third-party services. References in this policy to "cookies" should be read as including these similar technologies.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, adding items to your basket, or completing a checkout. Without these cookies, parts of the Site will not work.
- Examples: WordPress login session cookies, WooCommerce cart and checkout cookies, security tokens (CSRF protection).
3.2 Functional cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality, such as remembering your preferences, language settings, and recently viewed products. Disabling them may degrade the user experience but does not break core functionality.
- Examples: language preference, recently viewed products, B2B trade-account preferences.
3.3 Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site by collecting and reporting information anonymously, such as which pages are most visited, time spent on the Site, and any errors encountered. We use this information to improve the Site.
- Examples: Google Analytics 4, internal page-view counters, on-site search analytics.
3.4 Marketing and advertising cookies
These cookies (where used) help us measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, retarget visitors with relevant communications, and integrate with our review-management platform. We only set marketing cookies where you have given consent.
- Examples: review-platform cookies, conversion-tracking pixels, email-marketing tracking.
4. Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit the Site, we ask for your consent to use non-essential cookies via a cookie banner. You can:
- Accept all cookies.
- Reject all non-essential cookies.
- Customise your preferences by category.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the Site footer, or by clearing the cookies in your browser, which will trigger the consent banner again on your next visit.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings:
- Most browsers allow you to refuse all cookies, accept only specific cookies, or be notified when a cookie is being set.
- You can delete cookies already stored on your device.
- Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Site (including login and checkout) from working.
5. Third-Party Cookies and Services
Some cookies on the Site are set by third-party services we integrate with. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review:
- Google (Analytics, Tag Manager) — see policies.google.com/privacy
- Payment gateway providers — see the privacy policy of the gateway selected at checkout.
- Bob Go (logistics integration) — see bobgo.co.za for their privacy practices.
- Customer Reviews for WooCommerce (review platform) — see cusrev.com for their privacy practices.
We do not control the cookies set by third parties and are not responsible for their privacy practices.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no universally accepted standard for responding to DNT signals, and we do not currently respond to them. You can manage your tracking preferences via our cookie banner.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add, remove, or change services that use cookies. The version published on the Site at the time of your visit governs how we use cookies on that visit.
